Favorite time of the year: Precious Stone: the Timeless Quartz Stone

Ahh, it's back to school time and I could not be happier. Although I'm doing much more running around now that school's in session, I am taking time to smell the freshly sharpened pencils. My little one is excited to be back in school. He's only six, so he isn't jaded or hip to the fact that he'll be going to school for a kabillion years.

With the new school year, I've decided that it's time for getting rid of old stuff and simplifying my life. I have accumulated junk from waaaay back in the day. I have old papers and books from college. I haven't even looked at any of it since taking those classes. I have been toting it with me from place to place. Not anymore, the papers are hitting the shredder and the books will be donated to my alma mater.

I am having my son get rid of his junk too. He's picked up some very bad habits from me. Enough with bad examples. He duplicates everything I don't want him to imitate. That's a whole other blog, and not all of it is my fault either. One week into school and he's at home "popping it". Uh...no, not cool behavior on my little guy.

So even though I have the battle of trying to beat the school buses during rush hour, I am still happy to see them even if they sit there with the stop sign and flashing lights. It means for the next 9 months, my life is semi back to normal. Back to school is a beautiful thing.

Speaking of my life as back to "normal" I am finding ways to help the Gulf Coast Evacuees get their lives back in order as well by donating (and not just one time--this will take years to redevelop) to the American Red Cross. I gently, but urgently request that everyone do the same. Sharing with my child the gift of giving is a lesson I want him to keep with him always.

Until next time...

SG
